Who We Are

Founded in 1976 by Bob Marcellino and John Hausner, Homestead Design is now a 100% employee owned corporation. Employees are vested stockholders in HDI and have a direct and personal stake in our success. Working as a team, Homestead has become one of the most consistently awarded builders in the state of Vermont for both residential and commercial construction.

HDI is actively involved with the homebuilding industry and with Vermont community and state government. HDI team members have served on local boards, charities, and within town governments, serving as officers in the local chapter of the National Association of Home Builders, the Vermont Board of Realtors, and as Planning Chairs and Selectpersons in our own towns. We are active in making our voices heard on growth and the environmental issues facing Vermont and regularly attend educational seminars at local and national levels.

Homestead Design has long been committed to building energy efficient homes, and has partnered with US EPA Energy Star program since 2003. With over 450 Energy Star qualified homes built, we are the top Energy Star builder in Vermont. Guided by staff members who have earned Green Building Professional certification, HDI utilizes sustainable building practices in our design and construction practices.

Our Team

Jeffrey Feussner, President

Jeff graduated from Villanova University and began his career in the Vermont building industry, which has been his focal point for the last forty years. Jeff understands the value of quality development, construction and customer service, which are the hallmarks of Homestead Design, Inc. Jeff is a Past President of the Home Builders Association of Northern Vermont, and a former member of the Vermont Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

Vicki Gabert, Vice President / Controller

Vicki is a Champlain College graduate and native Vermonter. She joined the HDI team in 1992 as an Accounts Payable Clerk, transitioned to Controller and is currently the Vice President. Her previous job experience with a local builder and a construction firm, combined with hands on experience building her own home, give her a comprehensive understanding of the building process. Her main duties are HDI’s financial recordkeeping, tenant leasing and association accounting.

Lori Hume, Office Manager

Lori received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Barry University and an A.B.A. Paralegal Certificate from Bentley University. Lori has been with Homestead Design for two years and brings over 25 years of varied office experience to her position of Office Manager. Through her positions of customer service representative, human resources administrator and real estate paralegal, Lori possesses the necessary skills and understanding to make sure that Homestead Design’s office runs smoothly.

Terry Edgar, Project Manager / Estimator

Terry received a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the State University of New York at Buffalo and has over 35 years of experience in the Construction and Architecture industry. Terry joined Homestead Design in 2009 as a Project Manager/Estimator. His responsibilities include scheduling, procurement of materials, estimating and budgeting of projects and coordinating efforts between the office and field personnel. Terry has been designated by the National Assoc of Homebuilders as a Certified Green Professional.

Chip Foutz, Project Manager

Chip has over forty years experience in commercial and residential construction; with twenty three years in construction management. In his sixteen plus years with the HDI team, some of Chip’s responsibilities include project design/review, estimation, scheduling, field supervision, materials acquisition, and subcontractor interaction. Professionalism, cooperation, and a positive attitude are some of his truly essential “Tools of the Trade”. Chip has earned designation as a Certified Green Professional by the NAHB.

Tom Doll, Field Supervisor
Tom is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison who moved to Vermont in the late 1970s. With 40 years of experience in construction as a painter, concrete worker and carpenter, he brings a great deal of knowledge to his present position of field supervisor. Gary Marshall
Gary has been with Homestead Design since 1999. His 16 years of general construction and remodeling experience enable Gary to assist the Field Supervisor in a multitude of tasks. Gary specializes in tracking and completing the fine details of every home.

Ron Bouchard, Sales

Ron Bouchard and Home Design Inceptions Real Estate (HDI Real Estate) have been marketing Homestead Design homes for twenty years. A graduate of Rice Memorial High School and the University of Vermont, Ron has been Past President of the Board of Realtors, a board member of the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission and currently sits on the Town of Shelburne Planning Commission.
